Step 1: Enter the visible sign text and use

Enter the exact tactile sign copy and identify whether the sign marks a permanent room, gives directions, provides information or is temporary.

Step 2: Generate and back-check contracted braille

Translate the visible text to contracted UEB Grade 2 and compare the back-translation with the intended message.

Step 3: Enter physical measurements

Record dot shape, dot diameter and height, spacing within and between cells, line spacing, separation from tactile text or borders and mounting-height inputs.

Step 4: Review the federal preflight findings

Resolve failed or missing checks against the federal 2010 ADA Standards baseline before sending the design to fabrication or installation.

Step 5: Export the report and complete local review

Export the available preflight report, retain the measured inputs and confirm state, local and authority-having-jurisdiction requirements. The report is not certification.

What to know before translating

Does the checker certify ADA compliance?

No. It is a preflight against measurable federal baseline inputs. It does not replace fabrication quality control, installation inspection, state or local code review, or a decision by the authority having jurisdiction.

What does the sign checker review?

It reviews contracted braille and back-translation together with supplied dot shape, dot dimensions, cell spacing, line spacing, tactile separation, border separation, mounting range and basic door-side location.

Why does the tool require measurements?

Text translation alone cannot determine physical sign compliance. Dot geometry, spacing, mounting and location must be measured on the design or finished sign.

Do state and local rules still apply?

Yes. The checker uses the federal 2010 ADA Standards as a baseline. Applicable state, local and project requirements may add or change obligations.

When should I run the preflight?

Run it before fabrication, repeat it after design changes and verify the finished sign and installation using physical measurements.
